Many thanks for your e-mail.
As stated to IACCI staff during the Expo, I congratulate you and your team for organizing an impressive event, and GLOBAL looks forward to supporting similar events in the future. Despite a number of challenges, IACCI and its Iraqi partners overcame these obstacles and provided a glimpse into the energy and capacity of the Iraqi people. IACCI staff were at all times polite and helpful, please extend my personal thanks to everyone. It is our sincere hope that the international community will move forward to provide direct investment into and skills development of Iraq’s oil and gas sector.
With respect to areas for improvement, outside of completing the rehabilitation of the convention center and surrounding areas, I would recommend greater focus on developing the conference aspects. While several of the speakers were engaging, improvements in organizing a fixed program with a variety of Arabic and English handouts would be helpful. Moreover, companies should focus on emergent technologies or techniques vice using the time given as a pure marketing forum. Also, minimizing the overt present of security escorts inside the actual Expo center would put the focus more on the positive aspects of the event.
Again, the GLOBAL team was proud to sponsor the Expo, and remains committed to supporting Iraqi efforts to build a strong and viable economy. I am more than willing to discuss the above further with you and your team as needed.
