The first ever Iraq Energy Expo and Conference, December 5th – 7th 2008 was a great
success by all accounts, the fact that it was held in Baghdad at this time says a lot
about the security improvements in Iraq, the willingness of international oil and gas
companies to be present in such a large number and the Iraqi ministry of oil
extensive participation in the event from all parts of Iraq, all fifteen companies
participated.
Oil Minister Dr. Hussain al-Shahristani welcomed international oil companies to Iraq and
ended with an announcement of a new joint venture between an Iraq oil firm and a foreign
company.
